Hecla Island

This weekend Luis and I went to Hecla for an end of season last camping trip, this time we used a cabin.  It was amazing.  I love camping, but there was something about having a cabin that made it that much better.

Cabin #1
They say it sleeps 6 people, they would have to be very small people.  Perfect for a small family, and a little to big for us.
First day we ended up in Gull Harbor, beautiful little marina.  Makes me want to own a boat!!

From Gull Harbor I took this photo.  This is a light house that we wanted to walk to the last time we came to Hecla. . . . but chickened out when Luis saw (what he describes) as a large animal running across the path.
Middle of no where picnic table!

Flooding was slightly over rated!!

Spoiler alert** Only wildlife we saw on the trip.  Well except bugs and squirrels.  Now stay tuned for the pictures when we went to the wildlife lookout!!

Jason Voorhees house.

Yep, I know how to take a photo!!  Of course it is easy when you have good things to work with!!

View of Gull Harbor from the light house.

I found Santa!!  Apparently he lives in Hecla!!

On the way back to Winnipeg we stopped off at 2 different wildlife lookouts.  The wildlife Viewing tower, and Grassy Narrows Marsh.  As you may have guessed we did not find any wildlife.  It was too bad that the marsh had most of the trails were closed.

Before we left we stopped in at Riverton.  A town so small that if you blink you miss it. . . . but then you would miss Manitoba's largest Moose.  Luis was unimpressed!!

I have been to Hecla twice now and I can guarantee that I will be back!!  I still have not shared everything this place has to offer.  I will return and walk some more.
